Wet, muddy, and dressed like superwoman! It’s all for a good cause

Muddy Melissa.jpgWhether it was dressing up as superheroes, splashing through mud or simply taking a leisurely jog round Battersea Park, the staff at Instant have been busy raising over £3,700 for a variety of charities.

Let’s get muddy

Melissa Bloom, from our US team, took part in the Warrior Challenge in Roanoke Texas in April. The 3.5 mile course includes sixteen obstacles of mud, water, climbing over cars, jumping over walls, navigating rough terrain - with a final jump over a fire pit. Melissa took part dressed in nothing but lime green running gear and a big smile - and finished in an impressive 39 minutes.

Melissa raised $660 for Instant’s charity 1MoreChild and is already in training for the much more intense ‘Tough Mudder’ event in October.

This is a job for a super hero

On a sunny Sunday morning in mid-May, four members of the London team dragged themselves out of bed and across to Regent’s Park for the COSMIC Super Hero 5k run.

For as far as the eye could see, there were super heroes in all shapes and sizes including Banana man, Wolverine, Thor, Spiderman, Captain Jack Sparrow, Wonder woman…and even some less likely characters - not usually considered super heroes - such as a gingerbread man and Borat.

Once the whistle blew the superheroes set off along winding pathways and dodging unsuspecting passers-by out for a Sunday stroll. The Instant team all turned in respectable times of less than 30 minutes, and raised over £600 for the Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care.

The Race for Life round Battersea Park in May brought the Instant girls out in force. Twenty women from the Paddington office took part in aid of Cancer Research.Heading down to the starting post, they were caught in the first rain shower in London for three months, so the pink team t-shirts were slightly soggier than anticipated. Spirits weren’t dampened, though, and the 5k run was completed by all, with the two pregnant ladies bringing up the rear at a more sedate pace. Total sponsorship raised from this effort was, at the last count, £2747!
